Color By Texas (Texas) is a chestnut/tobiano. His sire is Texas
Whistler, who goes back to "Long Tall Texan". Long Tall
Texan was retired as a race horse at 11 years old. He was then
introduced to the show arena where he was very successful, earning
six Grand Champions and two Reserve Grand Champions. He earned
points in Halter, Hunter Under Saddle, Barrel Racing, Calf Roping,
Hunter Hack, Pole Bending, Western Pleasure and Western Riding. He
is the sire of ROM earners and APHA champions.
Texas' dam, My Classy Countessa, is a great-granddaughter of
9-time Grand, two-time Reserve Champion Sir Quincy Dan.
Color By Texas stands 15.1hh and weighs approximately 1,100
lbs. He puts a lot of bone on his foals, a tiny ear, and a great
disposition. Texas is a real gentleman to his ladies. He is broke
to ride both western and English, and also drives. He has been
worked on cattle and seems to enjoy the challenge of chasing down
a cow! Texas has a quiet manner, and is very quick to learn. He
has been worked in the woods with snow past his knees, pulling out
downed brush and limbs. He is frequently used as a
lesson horse, particularly to improve students confidence and
balance while learning to lope/canter. He is "voice
controlled, " very
smooth gaited and makes fluid transitions.
Texas' stud fee is $300, with a $75 booking fee. Mare care is
$10/day dry, $12/wet (with foal by side). All mares receive the best care, and are
treated "as one of our own". Daily turn out is available
in either pasture or indoor arena. We work closely with
veterinarians to ensure your mare's breeding proceeds as smoothly
as possible.
